After effects | Production Schedule

Opening scene 'After Effects' - Settings/Locations

Settings/Locations

There will be 3 different settings in our opening scene:
  • Inside college
  • Thaomy's house
  • A park

We have decided to use the college as one of the settings as the main character is a teenage freshman who's day to day life involves attending college. The main locations inside the college that we would use is the corridor and a classroom. The corridor will be the first college location of the clip, it is where the freshman over hears a conversation that he shouldn't had which leads to many problems and dramas. In result of ears dropping, he arrives late to his first lesson of the day therefore gets a detention, a classroom would be used to represent this.

As the character is a freshman, he will still be living at home with his parents. The main room we are going to use in Thaomy's house is her brothers room, as the freshman will be sleeping to showcase he is having a dream. There would be several shots of the surroundings and belongs around the room to portray the type of character he is to the viewers. The camera will focus on his facial expressions; once his eyes close the scene change into his dream. There would be a constant switch between each dream and reality to remind the audience he is dreaming, between each scene the freshman will gradually panic more and more, moving around quicker and quicker, heart beat getting faster and faster to symbolize that his dream is bad portraying his future will be terrible if he doesn't change. The opening will finish with the freshman suddenly waking up with a loud gasp covered with sweat, being a reminder and representing the freshman saw a horrid dream of his future.

We will use the park as the location where the freshman's friend calls him and asks for a favor. We decided to use this setting as it is a park that many people don't go, therefore is the perfect location for the friend to give the drugs to the freshman. The freshman would arrive early and will sit on the seats (left picture) wondering whats going on, after his friend arrives the walk around the park to the pathway (right picture). As his friend is in trouble and needs someone to keep the drugs, the freshman couldn't say no and agreed to keep it, knowing something bad will come out of it.

Genre and Convention

Genre and Convention

A teen film targets towards teenagers, normally focusing on teenage life. The concept teenagers orginated back in the 1950s, it started after the war ended. The concept became a marketing invention for society, using the 'teenagers' as a a re-development strategy, allowing to help with economic growth.

The conventional teen drama normally focuses on teenage life show a transitional changes in their lives. Changes such as first love, coming of age, friendship and family conflict. Depending on the plot of the movie, a teen movie would concentrate on a male lead or female lead. For example one of the first teen movie 'Rebel Without Cause' focuses on coming of age as the male lead begins to learn more about himself through his mistakes and choices he makes. We see that he experiences love but also family issues, showing a relateable story to the audience. But that has all changed as movies has focused on giving the teenagers a sterotypical view on being wild and irresponsable. Also the focus on teenage cliques has been a key feature in any teen movie where, within a school there would be a series cliques where depending on your popularity and what you do e.g cheerleader, jock, geek this would then determind what group you socialised in.

A movie dated back such as 'A walk to remeber' shows you what was the typical teenage movie was like back then. 'A walk to remember' shows you a deeper meaning, touching the heart of the audience.

Where as movie such as 'mean girls' show you what is protrayed now. 'Mean girls' has a moral behind it but can be lost within the movie due to some many other problems occuring in the movie. The use of the 'bitchy' vibe in the movie makes it more enterianing for modern teenagers to watch.

Risk Assessment - After Effects

As we will be filming in a outdoor environment it is essential that we make sure that we are aware of certain things that may affect our filming process. For the camera we'll make sure to keep it in within its case to protect it from getting damaged while filming outside. As well as making sure the camera is protected in it case we will also cautious of how to handle the camera, we'll make sure that whenever we have the camera within  reach, we make sure it's handle tight and sturdy grip.

As well as making sure the camera is handle safely, we also have to make sure that we are well precautioned as well. We need to make sure that none of the members are in danger in anyway whilst filming. This means that we should avoid filming in places which could be dangerous for us but also if we have to take a risk with the location this then means that we will look out for one another, making sure that if any one of us needs help them we should all be able to help one another.

The role of the teachers is to be like modern teachers and also to be a kind of law abiding citizan and also a kind of law inforcer to stop joshua.

Dylan is the kind bad influence in the story who introduces him to drugs, he will be portrayed as a more outlandish character streetwise.
