'After Effects' | sub genre's

Type of teen film:
During the planning of our opening scene, we listed down the possible genres that we might like to do, which were the following:
  • Comedy
  • Horror
  • Action
  • Crime
  • Drama
  • Fantasy
We explored the varies sub-genres and narrowed it down to the genres we thought would be different from other groups, had the best story-line to and enable us to touch on subjects of everyday teens life that our target audience can relate and connect to, the genres we picked are:
  • Fantasy
  • Drama
  • Crime

Film inspirations:
We were inspired by a couple of films/TV series  for different aspects of our opening scene:
  • Top Boy
  • Premonition

Premonition
This film inspired us to base the story-line of the freshman seeing how his future will turn out if he doesn't change his actions, friends and behavior through his dreams. We decided to do this  as it was something we all found interesting and exciting about however also challenging if we don't caption and portray the character is seeing his future in opening scene correctly but also like a challenge. Also we thought it will be different from other groups and appeal to the audience.

Top Boy
As our target audience is teenagers (13- 19 years old) we wanted to do a theme that teens are interested in so we decided to base it on drugs. Top Boy inspired us, when it came out it was a huge success therefore returning this year. The freshman becomes dragged into drugs by doing a favor for his friend. He then becomes addicted to it which causes many health problems, who is lucky to see this in his dreams and as if he has a second chance to change his life.
